The Commission on Human Medicines (CHM) has temporarily restricted use of the IXCHIQ Chikungunya vaccine in people aged 65 years and over following very rare fatal reactions reported globally. Becton Dickinson UK Ltd has informed the MHRA that some units exhibit an open seal on the packaging of the applicator. This is linked to the Class 2 Medicines Notification EL(25)A/22. This defect could increase the risk of the applicator device being contaminated with pathogens.

Norgine Limited is recalling one batch of product as a precautionary measure due to some units containing low amounts of active ingredients.
